What is sinusitis?

Simply put, this condition is an inflammation of the sinuses. Sinusitis is usually caused by a bacterial infection; however, fungal infections can also be to blame. An acute bout of sinusitis can last anywhere from three to eight weeks, while those with chronic sinusitis experience symptoms for more than eight weeks.

What are the symptoms?

It’s easy for people with sinusitis to think they just have a cold since many of the symptoms are the same. Symptoms include:

  • Nasal congestion
  • Postnasal drip
  • Cough
  • Fever
  • Nasal discharge
  • Facial pain and pressure
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Bad breath (halitosis)
